From the Pastor on Sunday, August 20, 2017

Welcome to Estes Park Baptist Church. Thank you for gathering together to worship our great and mighty King and Lord Jesus.

Life seems to be moving in a very rapid pace for me. Of course Tonya and I have begun to pack (mainly Tonya) so the days are very full. The “joy of the Lord” must be our strength. It is easy for us to get discouraged and look at the “waves” that life throws at us. It can be overwhelming.

This last week was no different. The Barcelona Islamic attack and the Charlottesville protests fill the news. That is only part of the stuff that is happening. These events all mount up in our lives and can cause us to lose focus. Everything we experience can challenge the joy of the Lord in our hearts. I am reminded of the scripture found in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 of the last days. We have many great opportunities before us; let us continue to walk by faith and take advantage of them.

This next week Jim Hogue and I will be traveling to the “Celebrate life” event for Doyle Pennington in Fayetteville, Georgia. Because of airline scheduling, Ralph Helms, our friend from the Longs Peak Association, will be bringing the message in my stead. Doyle went to be with the Lord unexpectedly last Sunday morning after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just a few days earlier. Please continue to pray for Celeste in this sudden adjustment in her life.

Also, please continue to pray for our commitment to build the “mission house” and for our neighbors around us. God is at work, but so is the devil. Remember, God is able to bring about all things for His glory.

Don’t let the world steal our “Joy in the Lord.”

Again, welcome to EPBC.
